Pat Dews Spindrift IIPat Dews, a signature member of the American Watercolor and National Watercolor Societies, will present the 2007 Guest Artist Residency at Michigan Tech on October 25-28. The residency features four hours of free, public lecture-demonstrations designed for a general audience, and a three-day workshop for artists. Michigan Tech students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Events will be held in McArdle Theatre, 207 Walker. The Guest Artist Residency brings nationally and internationally known artists in diverse media to campus each year, and is coordinated by Mary Ann Beckwith (Professor, Visual & Performing Arts).

Beckwith describes Pat Dews as "an absolutely inspiring teacher, for students at all levels. Her energy and enthusiasm are legendary. People who attend her lectures and workshops are always amazed at how much they learn.” Dews’ paintings and collages continually break new ground, and are frequently featured in books and journal articles. She has won awards at numerous national juried exhibitions. Reproductions of Dews’ work can be seen at www.patdews.com and at www.fa.mtu.edu.

Dews’ free public lecture-demonstrations will be presented on Thursday, October 25, at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. in McArdle Theatre. Parking for community visitors will be available in Lot 8. Her three- day workshop for artists will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26, and end at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 28. The workshop is limited to 20 participants, and has a fee of $190; pre-registration is required. Forms are available from the Visual & Performing Arts office, 487-2067, and from www.fa.mtu.edu.
